Broken Homes Report on Long Term Care in NS
Long-term care is a vital part of Nova Scotia's health care system, and it is in dire need of reform. Recently, the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union completed a report on the current state and future of long-term care in our province from the view of our front-line nurses.
The report, Broken Homes – Nurses speak out on the state of long-term care in Nova Scotia and chart a course for a sustainable future, gives an overview of our current long-term care system and supplies evidence-based recommendations that can be used to address the problems facing residents, nurses and other care workers.
We hope this report will stimulate discussion that leads to meaningful change. This discussion must include the voices nurses and other front-line care providers who have first-hand knowledge of the plights and difficulties surrounding long-term care.
