2020 Year of the Nurse
The World Health Organization is recognizing 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. The year 2020 is significant, as it marks the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale, a trailblazer and one of the founders of modern nursing.
NSNU is proud to take this opportunity to celebrate Nova Scotia nurses and create opportunities for our members to be highlighted and their work to be acknowledged. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
Make a Video
NSNU members are encouraged to make videos answering the questions “Why I Became a Nurse” and “Why it’s Important to be Honoured” to share on social media, and send in to the union to be collected in a video dedicated to our members. Videos can be sent to nsnu.office [at] nsnu.ca with the subject line “Year of the Nurse Video”. All videos should be submitted by March 20th.
Get Your Frame
The NSNU has created a custom Facebook Frame which members are encouraged to add to their profile photos to show your Nurse Pride. See below for instructions on how to add the frame to your Facebook profile photo.
Look out for shareable content on Facebook and Twitter all year long, highlighting the importance of nurses in Nova Scotia, Canada and around the world. Be sure to share with your friends and followers to help get the word out about Year of the Nurse.
Enter the Monthly Merch Draw
The NSNU is going to be conducting monthly draws for merchandise until the end of 2020. Members only need to enter once to be included in all of the draws until the end of the Year of the Nurse.
Enter by March 30th to be included in the next draw, and log on to the MyNSNU App each month to see what new merchandise item one lucky member will be taking home.
