What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a technology that websites use to easily distribute updated content to users. It is widely used on websites that have content that is constantly changing; newspapers, blogs, magazines, etc. After you subscribe to a site’s RSS feed you’ll receive summaries of new articles as they are published without needing to visit each site individually.

All major web browsers – Firefox, Internet Explorer 7+, Safari – allow you to read your RSS feeds right from your browser. You can also download software called a Feed Reader or Aggregator to view feeds. Some Feed Readers are web-based and others work right from your computer desktop. You can use these programs to view updates from your favourite sites in one central place.
