Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2017

Special Events

The Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union is taking on the 2017 Women Build Challenge! We are excited to have an NSNU Crew on a Habitat for Humanity build site in Halifax on October 12th as part of the second annual Women Build. We are looking for 10 nurses to sign on to round-up our team, with the support of your Local. Nurses will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

The Nurses’ Union has paid the minimum requirement to participate in this opportunity to give back to the community, but any local who wishes to send a member must contribute a minimum of $250.00 to join the team. All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia is a non-profit organization working towards a Nova Scotia where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. To date they have built 55 homes throughout the province to help low income working families achieve the goal of successful home ownership.

Volunteers do NOT need experience to participate in the Women Build event. All tools and safety equipment will be supplied. Our trusted and qualified Crew Leaders will teach you everything you need to know about building and using power tools. They will also provide safety instructions, and will guide you on how to preform construction tasks safely and correctly as you enjoy learning new skills on your day of building.
