Message of Support
As teachers across this province prepare to take job action on Monday, December 5th, a decision that no labour organization takes lightly, the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union and its 7000 members stand in solidarity with them.
In the same way that we care about the welfare of our patients, teachers have the best interests of students, and the education system as a whole, to consider. The decisions they have made with regard to work-to-rule job action are intended to improve both the teaching and learning experience.
As parents, unionized professionals, family, neighbours and friends we understand how difficult it can be to take a principled stand on work-life issues when collective bargaining reaches an impasse. Right now, they are teaching one of life’s most valuable lessons by standing up for what they believe in. We wish them luck.
The Board of Director’s of the Nurses’ Union asks NSNU members to show support at rallies and by writing to your MLA and the Premier.
