Habitat for Humanity Women Build Challenge

On October 12th members of the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union participated in the Habitat for Humanity 2017 Women Build Challenge. A dozen nurses traded in their scrubs for tool belts and hardhats and took to work on a Habitat home in Spryfield, showing once again the spirit and determination of NSNU members.

After some on-the-job training from the builders, members were off and running helping to build a fence, and working on electrical inside the house. It was a chilly day – 2 degrees in the morning! – but that didn’t stop them from having great fun, and doing lots of work.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds homes throughout the province to help low income working families achieve the goal of successful home ownership. Thank you to Habitat for allowing members of the NSNU to help on this project – it’s an experience they won’t soon forget.
